Ensuring Accountability and Effectiveness
Putting in place a governance system is important to ensure efficiency and accountability of the consortium.
Chair and Deputy Chair
A Chair and Deputy Chair provides overall leadership and offer strategic guidance to ensure the consortium delivers on its mandate. The Chair is responsible for overall institutional and research leadership of the consortium. The Deputy Chair assists the Chair in carrying out their duties.
Current Chair
Professor Kwame Akyeampong has been appointed as Chair.
Deputy Chair
Dr. Esinam Avornyo has been appointed as Deputy Chair.
Consortium Manager
The Consortium Manager oversees the day-to-day running of the consortium. He/she oversees daily operations, ensuring activities are executed efficiently and acts as administrative head and the liaison between the GEELAB Secretariat at SRIM and the Consortium.
- Manage the consortium's budget and keep records on how funds are being used for research and related activities
- Together with the Chair and Deputy Chair, prepare accounts on use of research funds to internal & external funding bodies
- Serve as the primary point of contact for consortium members, MoE and GES, and external partners
- Report directly to the Chair/Deputy Chair
- Coordinate consortium's events, activities and ensure adherence to research timelines and budgets
- Ensure consortium's research teams are in compliance with agreed policies and research ethics
- Ensure the consortium works closely with research staff at SRIM and GES
- Set up regular meetings with SRIM, MoE and GES research staff to discuss new research and evaluation reports
- Support the consortium's research engagement officer (REO) to prepare and disseminate research outputs
- Together with the Chair represent the consortium on the Ministry of Education's High-Level Evidence Committee
- Manage external communications and knowledge exchange activities between the consortium and stakeholders
